Join the choir.
No audition, no experience, no problem. If you can match a pitch, or want to learn to, there's a seat with your name on it.

Four steps
From course card to curtain call.

Pick choir at course selection
Choose it like any elective. Treble voices start in Dolce, tenor and bass voices in Orpheus. Not sure which? Pick either and the director will help sort it out.

Say hello
Email Leo Werner or send a DM to @hamilton.choir. Ask anything: placement, schedules, what to expect.

Come sing on day one
No audition, no experience needed. You will learn warm-ups, reading, and your first piece in the first weeks.

Grow into the next choir

For families
Questions, answered.
Do I need choir experience?
No. Dolce and Orpheus are open to every student, and many of our singers had never sung in a choir before high school. You will learn to read music and use your voice well in class.
Is there an audition?
Not for Dolce or Orpheus. Eurydice and AntiquaNova are placed by the director, usually in late spring for the next school year. Ask the director how placement works this year.
How do I sign up?
Choose choir on your course selection form like any other elective. If you are already registered and want to add it, talk to your counselor or email the director.
Can I do choir and band, orchestra, sports or theatre?
Yes. Choir meets during the school day. Our singers also march, play, act and compete. Evening concerts are four times a year, posted well in advance.
What is required outside class?
Four evening concerts a year plus a few optional events: the fall retreat, holiday caroling, festivals, and honor choir auditions for those who want them.
What does it cost?
Choir is a regular class. Some activities, like concert dress or trips, may carry an activity fee, and Arizona's tax credit can cover extracurricular fees. Ask the director for this year's details.
What do we wear to concerts?
Concert black. The director shares the exact dress code at the start of the year.
I'm shy. Will I have to sing alone?
No one is required to solo. You sing as part of a section, surrounded by voices like yours. Solos and small groups are there for those who want them.
